I'm changing the course of this blog.

At this moment in time, I'm endeavouring to make my blogging more frequent and a summary of what's been going on in my life lately while still including some food-talk.

Reflecting on the past week.....

I'm enjoying watching Jesse learn how to ride his bicycle outside as he sports a helmet that is cherry red just like his red Radioflyer. The pride that beams on his face is delightful! Luci and I also enjoyed catching Jesse at his preschool for lunch. They had reversed their schedule a bit so we got to watch the teacher telling a story with dollhouse furniture and goat puppets. The kids were fixated on the story as they sat in their circle watching the fox internalize (eat) all the goats. I was amazed to see that the goats all fit in this fox puppet's tummy, guess it was made for this story! I also noted that the story seemed to be in King James Version, if you know what I mean, with, "O Mothers" and Dear Mother."

Luci's a goof. Last night she was practicing telling her babies "No!" in her crib. She was not upset with us--I think she really just wanted to feel what it was like to have the upper hand. Everytime I say goodnight to her, she tells me (an attempt at consoling herself as she is being left alone) "God will make me happy."

Darren gave me a couple of well-deserved nights to escape and take it easy on Wednesday and Thursday nights. I went to a hotel in SF and relaxed by laying in bed a lot, channel surfing and reading the newpaper while dining at Tu-Lan on 6th St.
and getting a legal happy high on their iced coffee. I missed my intended French class Thursday night because of my conviction to relax but "Bon Chance" to me next Thursday night. Hopefully the teacher lets me in.

Had a typical mother and suffering, or humiliated, environmentalist experience this week. I always use as few plastic bags as possible when purchasing my produce at the corner fruit market. They pretty much know I eschew plastic bags and that I often bring my nylon Kiva bag, but they always do the polite thing and ask me. I said "no bulsa por favor" as I laid an onion on the counter with too much force so that it rolled onto the ground. The lady retrieved it and the whole transaction was processed. I proceeded to load my vegetables into my stroller basket (See, a bag is really unnecessary) and dropped the onion so that it rolled under a shelving unit. It was retrieved by a nice man. So my effort became a community effort, and there was a little embarassment to be swallowed, but it was all for the sake of the cause.
